African Rainbow Minerals (ARM) has been acknowledged as a leading employer in South Africa for the second consecutive year by the CRF Institute. ARM was awarded 6th position amongst big sized companies of South Africa at the CRF Best Employers 2012/13 awards ceremony that took place on 29 August 2012.

Participating organisations were assessed on the following criteria: Primary and Secondary Benefits and Working Conditions, Training and Development, Career Development, and Culture Management. All results were audited by Grant Thornton and only organisations which successfully met the stringent research criteria, have been certified as Best Employers.

Using international standards, the BEST Employers project identifies the front-runners in excellent HR management. The projects’ unique approach is characterised by HR policy based research, objectivity and an independent and selective assessment. Key to the project is that all participants must exceed the objective rating standards in the research.

Mike Schmidt, Chief Executive Office of ARM: ARM offers its employees outstanding working conditions and we look after our staff exceptionally well. We are highly optimistic about the future, not only of the company, but also of the country, and believe strongly in ARM’s ability to continue creating value for all our stakeholders.

Central to the company’s culture is the values of caring, diversity and entrepreneurialism. Trust is another key driver of our success. It is one of our core values which filter down from the organisation’s leadership team. ARM’s philosophy is summarised by its slogan – We do it better – a commitment to excellence which has become a driving force within the organisation, says Busisiwe Mashiane, Group Human Resources Executive.
